Why is phosphorus stored in water?can sodium be stored in it ?

White Phosphorous is stored in water to protect it from action of air, because once exposed to air P4 + 5O2 -----> P4O10. So, we store it under water. Now, sodium is stored under liquid paraffin as it explodes on contact with water to form NaOH and H2 gas. Obviously when there is such a violent interaction with water it can not be stored under it. Similarly potassium is stored under kerosene again because it oxidizes severely in air to form KO2 and also violently reacts with water to form KOH and H2.
